Default Ingame rating system for players.

This idea might be to large to actually fit in the game but I think it would be nice.

Its kind of like how ebay has a rating system for buyers and sellers combined with Sims type emoting.

If there is a person you like can attribute "like points" to them and share friendship emotes with them. If there is a person you dont like you can attribute "jerk points" (or dislike points) and have fight emotes with them. Because the emotes are shared Im imagining it would go like this:
/dance with "player"
and on "players" chat it would look like:
Goonter wants to dance with you.
in noticable text. If you click on that text, you will both dance together.

The emote thing is just extra incentive for roleplay, but it would serve a higher purpose.

A player could add 2 like points and -1 jerk points to any 1 player at anytime while in a group together after youve added them to your friends/ignore list. At anytime you can reset it back to 0. If you take them off your fiends/ignore list, it goes back to 0.

You can see an average of how many like or jerk points another player has at anytime which would be there sportsmanship rating.
/sportsmanship "player"
Also, in a fight emote, the person with the higher sportsmanship rating would have a better percentage to win the fight emote. If there rating is a signifacant gap, the it would look like a serious ass whoopin. (maybe)

Now, because sportsmanship ratings could make you unattractive to other players, there is a chance to redeem yourself. Major cities have churches you can go to where you can see the people that have a -1 point against you.

You can choose to chat with each person and ask/bribe them to remove there point. You can contact a person that has you on ignore through a priest but it will cost you some gil. The player being contacted will know its through a priest and will have the option to ignore them after the contactors first line if they wish. If the person on the other end puts you ignore again you wont be able to contact them through a priest again.

The other option is to buy out your dept. The cost will be determained by how long since the person with the point against you has logged in.
So say, for a person thats logged in minutes ago it would cost 1000. But for a person that hasnt logged in like a week it would cost 200. (thats just a rough estimate, something thats fair and balanced would be a necessity)
Once a person pays, then the grudge holder will be told something like: "player" has found redemption. or something, and your rating for them goes back to 0.

With this game having no subscribtion fee, and there being a number of very tough missions, the about of people that act like dicks are ever increasing.

With this system you either act as a good team player or let everyone know that your an ass,.... or you waste lots of money.

To expond on the emote thing. 1 like point would get you handshaking and buddy punching type emotes. 2 like points would get you hug and dancing type emotes.

I was just kidding about that last part.
But Id like know if yalls think this is a decent idea?

It would certainly help the effectivness of PUGs.

I would only want this implemented if GW creates RP districts. Until then, this would just be used... well, to be stupid.

And, then there's the issue of people raising each other's sportsmanship.

pve is the rp district isnt it?

As far as the emote thing, again its only incentive. And plus, I havent seen interactive emoting outside of Sims online. It would be a fun addition. But not necessary, and not so much of the point.

And theres nothing wrong with people rasing each others sportsmanship. It would only happen if the person doing it was cool with you, for whatever reason.

If your in a guild that helps each other your sportsmanship rating would matter little of nothing, cuz its "your family" in sorts. So that person is going to team up and move along with the game and help his teammates regardless.

It should only serve as an alarm to people recruiting for guilds or PUGs. But by no means a absolute decision maker.

Lets say you get an person on your team that likes to give orders in all caps and call people names when things go wrong. That person is probably give people on his team negitive points which is fine. So it shouldnt be taken to to seriously when see a person with hits against him. If a person is in a big guild and everyone in the guild gives that person good points just cuz he join the guild then...thats wierd. For what? To unlock emotes? It doesnt effect gameplay for the guild. You can piss of guildmates too, then your guildmates can select to emote punch you in the face (or whatever), its all fun.

But if the numbers are high enough or low enough, it might suggest something about the person that a popular vote revealed. This person is either really fun to play with, or hard to get along with.

And if it starts becoming a issue for a person to get in groups then he would probably adjust himself for like points or maybe even start going to church for redemption.

I would identify people acting like assholes as a problem. It could go ignored by anyone if any person chooses to ignore it. But when a person chooses not to, he should be able to effect the game it such a way as to create change for the betterment of the gaming community. This idea is just one way to put that power into players hands. If there are other or better ideas...cool.
But as of now, from a lot of threads Ive read in this forum and others, and from my own game experance, people act like raving assholes in this game and at no conseqence.

Adding a rating system should not include a "low rate" function because any asshole or idiot can low rate you in return just because they are poor natured, not you.

Ratings should go by approval only, nobody needs to be "low rating" anyone, if they added it. Giving certain players, party members in particular, the opportunity to approve of thier character or experience.

A "Charisma" rating could be established to give Players the opportunity to approve of liked and well mannerred players, and a "Fame" rating can be insituted to show for the number of players who approve of thier gaming prowes and game knowledge. It would be a good way for players to single out who they think are decent players to associate with, but anyone can throw a rating at someone for no reason at all, and would function as nothing more then a novilty. Still if there was a function to "approve" of thier attitude and thier capability which would simply post the Number of Players who have approved of you, then players would have a better idea of who they want to associate with.

It is important to exclude a "low rating" system because someone could get mad at you for something that wasn't even your fault or even thier own poor attitude and that person can call up his whole guild and all his friends to come low rate you, making you seem like a bad person. If there is a "high rating" system then you only know of how many players approve of you, this doesn't mean your not a nice person if you don't have a high rating, you could just be new, or secluded, but this at least allows players to know how popular you are even if the rating is falsified.

Yeah I thought about people giving low ratings for poor reasons too. I was thinking it wouldnt make a huge differance in how a person plays, but then...people hold grudges.
You got a good point, with an approval rating system only. It could serve much of the same functionality and cause less hard feelings.
